What they've been up to (or rather into) in the cold.

Here's some pics of what the kids have been doing this past month or so. It's been cold!

Having a conversation

Ben has been amazing us with how much he talks and what he says. When you ask if we wants something he goes, "sure!" When we go to Costco he'll tell me, "maybe after we shop we can get lunch." Last night I was standing behind him and he told me he could see my reflection in the window in front of him. Great, but I wonder who taught him the word reflection? He also has started gesturing a lot. He'll put his hands out with palms up when he asks where something is.... Very much like mom!

Tommy loves to get into anything that's not his! He loves to get up a chair and write with our pens on scrap paper that he finds. I hope the city doesn't mind that our bill has scribbles on it. He's also telling us stories all the time. He tells me that he has a baby and two dogs. He told Grandpa Howard, "I don't live here, this is where I work." o-kay.....

The Evolution of the Scoot...

Our Rachel is 14 1/2 months old. She took her first steps last Saturday. A few days prior she would just stand up from sitting on the floor and look proud of herself then fall down. Saturday morning she stood up and took a half step with her left foot when I said, "walk." Later that day she took two steps to Daddy and then three steps after that. Now we're back to scooting fast and crawling slow. For the sake of taking everyone to the park, I'm hoping she walks soon! Though, I do believe I will miss the scooting when it's all over and she's moved upright. This has been new to us, the boys just crawled. Scooting isn't particularly unique- lots of kids do it, but it does distinguish her. The nursery helpers at church all know her and everyone gets a half smile and chuckle when she bonk bonks herself across the room. We used to just laugh and say she's our little scoot and that's what fat kids do ha ha. Lately I think of her scooting as a sign of how smart and sophisticated she is. She's mostly upright and can see the world as she travels. She can even hold a drink! I can just picture her scootin on up with her sippy and saying, "Darrrling, won't you freshen this up for me?"
So there you have it, the last post I'll every do about scooting because, sniff sniff, I think Rachel is very close to moving on!

*Please don't be alarmed by Aaron's overgrown hair, he hasn't lost his job or suffered a bought of depression or anything. He just needs to week of reminders before he does for a haircut. That's just the way he rolls....

Not Sure What to Have for Christmas... but we've got Plenty of Ham and Cheese!

Last Sunday I realized that I didn't have many chances to put Rachel in the darling $8 Christmas dress I scored last spring so she wore it to church. Later at home I did a photo shoot and since I was working with two three year olds and a one year old the fact that they're all in the frame means it was a success!
